As you know I went to camp last Fri. and came back at about 3:00 yesterday. The camp was called Lo Mia. It was in Payson AZ and we stayed in cabins out in the forest. There were quite a few bugs in the showers and bathrooms, particularly Daddy long legs and moths. The cabin I stayed in didn't have to many bugs- no moths or daddy long legs. We found a small beetle and one or two teeny tiny spiders smaller than a finger nail. There was also a cute little squirrel that alway stayed near our cabin that we made friends with. The squirrel's name is Harry and his sister's name is Harriet and on the last day they were playing "follow the leader" with their friend Nutty.
We decorated our cabin with streamers, christmas lights, and a poster of a kitty cat.The picture I have is far less appealing than real life.
Before meals we would sing songs in the lodge and then we would eat delicious food. There were capers every day and through out all the week we were there we only had one shower! I still had fun and I learned how to use cloth to make bandages or wood to make a splint. We had to roast our marshmallows over a propane fire because of all the fire hazards But it was still yummy! Hmm- well we also learned about plants and which were poisonous and which were edible. Luckily I didn't go rolling in poisen ivy. Oh and i learned about different kinds of animals in that area. I saw two deer on the first day and that was pretty cool but I didn't have my camera with me and that's too bad. But I got some great pics of other things. OK well in order we go on the bus and we didn't watch a movie :( but we had a great time anyways. After we got off the bus we were told the rules and then we were dismissed to our cabins for an hour and a half to decorate. So there was 10 girls in our cabin (including our cabin moms) Thee names were Sister Russel, Sister Inman, Paige, Alli, Me, Kaylie, Kendra, Natasha, Aria, and Tori. The first day wasn't too full. At night we would walk over the bridge and people would be hiding underneath it and scare us walking by So all through out the night you would here people screaming at the bridge. Everyone stayed out late and went to bed at like 1:00 and we had to wake up at about 6:30ish. Before lunch the next day someone t.p.ed our cabin and we saw Cabin 6 walking away from the cabin right after so then we asked them if they had done it and they said they hadn't. I didn't believe it and neither did Natasha, Kendra, and Kaylie so we t.p.ed them and with an extra twist- Silly string. Of course they knew it was us because we had questioned them and hadn't believed them. The next day Diana whom was not part of the cabin who tricked us confessed that she had done it. That meant that Cabin 6 hadn't tricked us! We told them what happened but apparently they were still mad and that night they tied our door to a tree so that we couldn't get out. The thing is hardly any of us were in the cabin at that time and the rope was badly tied so when we opened it, yes, we were stuck but when we slammed the door open it came undone. That cool Saturday night every ward from the church did their singing and dancing routine. Ours was to the tune of I'm a barbie girl. I think we had the best one. I forgot to tape it so here is a demonstration from me of how it looked.
On Sunday Sister Russel left and Sister Davis came. It was nice and cool that day and it really made you love nature.
Sunday was a nice calm day filled with peace and happiness- we only had to do one caper that day instead of three. That was pretty awesome. but we had to be in our dress all day and go to church. Our only class was to read our scriptures for a half an hour in peace out in the forest. I enjoyed the life of the forest, the birds cooing softly, the shade of the trees, and the smell of the pines in the wind. The only problem is that I got sap stuck to my dress when I sat near a tree on a apparently sappy stone. The next day we woke up at 5:00 to go on a three mile hike. I was dog-tired but it was sooooo much fun! here is a pic. of the all the bracken fern that completely covered the forest floor.
We walked on top of a cliff that dropped to reveal a nice little creek.
I zoomed In quite a bit but the cliff was really steep. Here's another little pic. of the creek.
So yeah we hiked quite a ways- untill we got to the end of the trail were the creek began. It came from under ground so we knew it was clean water. On the way back my camera batery was almost dead so the camera kept closing the lense when I was tring to take pictures- but some of the pics. are nice.
I took alot of pics. of trees but some didn't quite turn out. When we came back from the hike we silly stringed (lol) and T.P.ed the cabin that had really pranked us but be left a note and some bubblegum on the floor reading "the hubba bubba brats" so they wouldn't get mad and they didn't even mention that they were pranked. Huh. Well then we pre-cleaned for our trip home for the next day. (it is a good thing we did because it would have taken hours to do it all at once) On Tuesday we packed and swept and moped up our cabin (we didn't get to eat breakfast till' we did) and then we chowed down on Lucky Charms, Coco crispy, watermelon, bananas, toast, or muffins. By the time the buses came we were sweaty and tired and grouchy. On the way home we watched a movie and slept till' we got to the church. My mom took ten minutes to pick me up- and I was so happy to see her and go home! One problem with that is we had to drive someone home so I was squished in the back with Spencer and then we had to go to the store! (my mom told me could drop me off at home but I missed them and didn't want to leave them already!) So then when we got home we swam for about thirty minutes. After that our neibor's came for a goodbye dinner because they were going back to germany. They stayed till' about 9:00 and I could hardly keep my eyes open and so I wrote in my blog a bit and watched tv. Finally I went to bed at like 9:30. I woke at 11:00! So I had toasted shredded wheats with cinnamon and sugar. and started writing this blog and went swimmming for three hours and now I am finishing it so I hope I haven't bored you to death. Byas!
